With so much to see and do when you arrive you’re spoilt for choice when you move to HATCH Student Living Cork. That’s why we’ve taken the time to recommend our top five activities.
The English Market
Cork’s most famous food market, it was opened in 1788 and has served the people of Cork over the centuries. With a mix of traders, it’s as diverse as at any time of its existence. Just a ten minute walk from Hatch, why not visit and experience the sights, sounds and smells of The English Market. Unwind and sample it’s tastes and enjoy the banter from the various cafés, delis and food plates from the atypical stalls.
St. Finbarrs Cathedral
Situated in the heart of the city, the Gothic Revival three-spire cathedral stands out on the city skyline. St.Finbarrs Cathedral can be see throughout the city. Explore the grounds and admire the impressive architecture as well as the gardens and labyrinth…
River Walk
Take a stroll along the River Lee and admire the city’s many storied bridges and nature. There’s nothing quite like a peaceful walk after a long journey. Follow the paths from the city center to UCC, which has some stunning parks and a gallery. With signposts scattered around the city, there’s many more walks to explore and discover Cork City and it’s surrounds. This is just to get you started (and one of our favourites here at Hatch).
Elizabeth Fort
Originally built as a defensive fortification on high-ground outside the city walls. The city eventually grew around the fort, and it took on various other roles – including use as a military barracks, prison, and police station. Just a short stroll from Hatch and free admission it boasts an interesting walk through history and stunning views of the city.
The Terrace
There’s nothing quite like a sunny spell on the Emerald Isle and with our gorgeous terrace area you don’t need to go anywhere else to enjoy it. So, grab a few friends and enjoy the sunshine from your own home.
We hope you enjoy these activities as much as we do. Check out our social media tag #HatchWeekend for more ideas.
